Interactivities

What are they and how are they useful?

Multimedia interactivities refer to responsive content designed to foster active learning. The use of H5P activities allowing clickable hotspots, drag and drop activities, a variety of auto-graded quiz styles for students to check their learning are all examples of interactivities.

Some more complex multimedia interactivites are shown below. Media can be created in a variety of ways allowing learners to interact with content. Included here a few examples that demonstrate possibilities of integrated H5P quizzes (Scenario), gamification using a decision tree and flowchart (Copyright Clearance), exploration of objects and spaces (360 Tours), and clickable audio for improved recognition and pronunciation (Secwepemcúl̓ucw map).

Maps

There are many ways that mapping can incorporate interactivity. Here audio buttons are added to learn pronunciation of Secwepemcúl̓ucw communities. As well, the connective nature of the internet allows opportunities for learners to populate maps as they do in this ‘Local Environmental History‘ exercise.
